Description

Understanding Emotional Intelligence in Yourself and Others

Anger can sometimes sit on top of hurt. Irritation can sometimes sit on top of worry. Many of us also learned early on to hide certain feelings, even from ourselves. When we only see the surface, we may respond to the wrong problem.

Does this sound familiar?

  • A small comment bothers you all day, and you are not quite sure why.
  • You snap at someone you love, and only later realize what you were really feeling.
  • When someone asks how you are, "I'm fine" comes out automatically, even when it is not true.

Often, the feeling we notice first is not the whole story.

What this course is about

This program helps you notice, name and understand your emotions, and then turn that understanding toward the people around you.

The central question

"What am I feeling underneath this?"

What is included

  • The book: The Feeling Beneath the Feeling. Eight short, clear chapters on what emotional intelligence really is, why we hide our feelings, and how to understand emotions in yourself and others. Each chapter ends with reflection questions.
  • The workbook: Questions and small exercises for every chapter, with space to write. This is where you put the ideas into practice.
  • The 30-day challenge: One small practice a day, most under ten minutes, moving from noticing, to understanding, to practising, to connecting with others.
  • The quick-start guide and mind map: A simple plan for how to use everything, plus a one-page map of the main ideas.

What you receive

A download link for all the PDF files and the mind map, available right after purchase.

Chapter overview

1. What emotional intelligence really is. Noticing, understanding, managing and empathy.

2. The feeling beneath the feeling. Why emotions often come in layers.

3. Why we hide what we feel. Family, culture and the difference between feelings and actions.

4. Getting to know your own emotions. Body signals, feeling words and a simple emotion journal.

5. The space between feeling and reacting. Triggers, pausing and checking the story you tell yourself.

6. Understanding other people. Reading signals carefully, asking instead of assuming, and showing empathy.

7. Emotions between people. How our moods can affect one another, and how small repairs can help rebuild trust.

8. Living with emotional intelligence. Everyday practice, kindness to yourself and knowing when to seek support.

How to use it

Everything comes as PDF files you can download right after purchase. Read on any device, or print the workbook and challenge to write in by hand.

It is fully self-paced. About ten to fifteen minutes a day is enough. The files are yours to keep.

Questions

Is this therapy?
No. This is a self-guided educational program for reflection and personal growth. It is not psychotherapy and does not replace personal care from a qualified professional. If you would like to work with Atul directly, you can book a psychotherapy session through this website.

What if someone in my life treats me badly?
Emotional intelligence is not a reason to accept mistreatment. Understanding your own part in a situation never means that harm done to you was your fault. If you feel afraid, or someone has threatened or harmed you, please reach out to a trusted person, a counsellor or a local support service. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

Does this replace my doctor or medication?
No. Please do not stop or change any prescribed medication or treatment because of this program. Speak with the professional responsible for your care first.

Who is this not for?
If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please reach out for direct support rather than a self-guided program. In Canada you can call or text 9-8-8 at any time.

How will I receive it?
Right after purchase you will get a download link for all the files.

What is the refund policy?
Because these courses contain downloadable materials, we generally do not offer refunds for a change of mind once the files have been downloaded. If you have a problem or would like us to consider an exception, email contact@atulmehra.com with your order number and a brief explanation. We review requests individually and may offer a refund depending on the circumstances. Please contact us about duplicate charges, missing files or download difficulties so we can help resolve the issue. This policy does not limit any rights available under applicable consumer protection law.
